calls from trucking

There are many industries with skills shortages or potential employees. And those that change industries and trades in a row.

In the last ten years we have seen bottlenecks in IT, nursing, aviation, pharmaceuticals, communications, automotive, mortgage brokers and container transport.

There was an interesting article recently in the Journal of Commerce 23rd June 2011 titled “Truckload driver turnover rate hits 75% per year” by William B. Cassidy

“The driver market tightened, and we hear almost daily from fleets that do not find enough drivers to meet demand. Pay and benefits increase as drivers, riders tend to jump from carrier to carrier. In addition, tend to support the recruitment efforts experience driver focus. Sales rose the most in big transport truck. small truck fleets have seen their turnover by 50%. There is always the highest turnover rate for small carriers since 2008. Every time I stopped at a rest stop, I’d see lying around all the recruitment brochures and magazines. Often offered rewards for truck drivers to sign, would, but they were deliberately recruited from other carriers.

In fact, I met the pilot recovery, which would only drive around and wait for calls from trucking companies, where a driver has gone crazy with a splinter from the side of the road with a full load and s’ alienated from work, only by a other shipping the same day to rent.

It seems now, the trucking industry will revive the past again, and the shortage of truck drivers will continue. Sometime in 2006 and 2007 there was a shortage of 220,000 truck drivers, and growing. That was before the economic crash in late 2008.
